Sidem chooses Objective WMS for its new global distribution centre in Gullegem

31/05/2010

Sidem, producer and distributor of steering and suspension parts for the automotive aftermarket, has chosen Objective WMS for the management of its new worldwide distribution centre in Gullegem near Kortijk.

The distribution centre in Gullegem has a surface of 11.000 m2. It will replace the old distribution centre in Roeselare, where there are insufficient expansion possibilities, taking into account Sidem’s growth.

With more than 10.000 product references (SKUs) that are delivered just in time to customers all over the world, Sidem was confronted with a complex logistics process. In order to bring this challenge to a good end, Sidem opted for an advanced distribution centre with state of the art technology. It contains among others automatic conveyor systems, a miniload with 24.000 bin locations, several packaging stations, etc.

Gwen Verfaillie, Sidem’s managing director: “We have chosen Objective WMS because this solution meets all our functional requirements and because it can be perfectly integrated with Microsoft Dynamics AX, our ERP. Also important was the practical experience of De Clercq Solutions with the implementation of its solution in strongly automated warehouse environments like ours.”

In 1993, Sidem (www.sidem.be) started off as a producer of suspension parts for passenger cars. Today, Sidem’s product range of steering and suspension parts for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and trucks is one of the world’s broadest ranges.

Sidem develops the parts itself in its R&D department in Belgium while the production takes place in two production plants in Hungary and Romania. Sidem also distributes parts of carefully selected suppliers. From its distribution centre in Belgium, Sidem carries out deliveries to more than 500 customers in more than 90 countries worldwide.
