This year, the dairy cooperative Milcobel will invest 20 million. The most important investment will be the expansion of the factory at Moorslede, with an expected production elevation of 8.000 to 25.000 tons of cheese per year by 2011. De Clercq Solutions will be responsible for the installation of MES and WMS by mid 2010.
In April 2009 Milcobel, the largest Belgian dairy cooperative, announced that the company would invest about 20 million. The most important goal would be the tripling of the production volume of the cheese factory at Moorslede.
Moorslede mainly concentrates on the production of a broad scale of consumption cheese such as the Brugge cheese (Brugge Blomme, Brugge Jong, Brugge Belegen, Brugge Oud), Nazareth cheese and Brigand.
Why Moorslede?
The Belgomilk factory at Moorslede was chosen because of different reasons. First, the factory disposes of the necessary knowhow for the industrial cheese production. Second, there was enough space available for the expansion and third, side streams such as cream and whey can be processed nearby at Belgomilk Langemark.
Why MES and WMS of De Clercq Solutions?
To optimize the quality of the end product for the market, Belgomilk Moorslede chose a task-focused control of the cheese treatment lines and storage. Because of the approaching capacity expansion the project also contains the integration with an automatic high-rise warehouse. Both needs could be answered by De Clercq Solutions.
Other reasons for chosing De Clercq Solutions were the perfect integration of the replacement system with the current control of the picking line (implemented earlier by De Clercq Solutions) and one of the goals of the Milcobel group: a standardisation of the different floor applications.
