Process optimization at paper giant Antalis

11/03/2009

Antalis has become the Belgian leader as a wholesale business in paper, paper derivates, envelopes, carton and visual communication products. This thanks to a sophisticated logistical organization, an automatic warehouse and the daily commitment of 270 professional employees.

Antalis saw the functionalities of Objective MES and WMS of De Clercq Solutions as a chance to optimize the processes in their envelope factory. This was planned in three phases, the last one of which is now in progress.

In the first phase the focus was on identification and labeling. In the second phase an MES system with planning module integrated in Mimosa / SAP was installed for the control and monitoring of the different steps in production. This summer the last phase – material handling – will begin. It will address amongst other things the registration of the consumptions of the different components.

The manual and automatic data registration resulted in less administrative work and an improved productivity. Moreover, the data are quickly available in the different systems. This enables Antalis to rapidly react to problems and to better assess the feasibility of the planning. Tracking and tracing are made simpler, just like the data analysis, which in turn makes a further optimization of processes in the long term possible.
